NOTE: The Late 2013 iMac is very similar to the Late 2012. It is built with an Intel Core i5 Processor with Turbo Boost and has two Thunderbolt Ports and four USB3.0 ports. It has four memory sockets which can be upgraded to 32GBs maximum memory using four 8GB PC3-12800 SODIMMs. Apple recommends two modules of the same size be installed for maximum performance.
For example I just upgraded old 2009 late iMac (RAMs from bottom), and it has 2 RAM modules 'horizontally', and 2 slots above (again horizontally) was empty. If you look at any video on youtube, this is original position from factory, which is in OS represented as Bank0/Dimm1 and Bank1/Dimm1 - so different Banks. My iMac is running slow and I am hoping to get a few more years out of it. I figure I have two options: add memory; replace my current hard drive with one that is solid state. So I am tackling the memory option first. My iMac has four memory slots with two in use. The two in use each have an 8GB module. What can I add in the empty slots?
